What is a ICHTHUS? True believers in Christ often display a fish symbol (Ichthus fish symbol) on their cars. Today it is used to let others know they believe in Jesus. What is amazing is that very few know how it begun to represent faith in our Lord and Savior. Really there is more to the story behind its use in biblical times. According to several Bible commentaries, some in the early New Testament church used the Ichthus Symbol. It was used as a secret reference code or cipher for Jesus Freaks. This correlation apparently led to the creation of an easy-to-draw shape as a profession of faith. In order to prevent unnecessary capture & persecution, Christians would often draw an ichthus in the dirt or on the walls of caves to let another Christian know that he too was a fellow believer. This symbol would let you know that it was safe to talk about their faith without the fear of being arrested. The story goes for example; "one complete stranger at the well would take a stick and draw half the fish. If the person next to him would draw the other half to complete the fish design then is would be okay to talk about Jesus".

Fish we cool back then

In Biblical times the association of fish and Christianity began with the Greek word ichthus (or ichthys, Strong's Concordance). Translated twenty times in the New Testament as "fish". This association is not surprising because at least half of the twelve disciples of Jesus were fishermen. This way of life included James and John (who were brothers). Peter and Andrew (also brothers). Thomas and Nathanael (see Matthew 4:21 - 22, John 21:1 - 3, etc.). In fact, five out of the first six disciples called to be a special witness of our Savior's ministry were fishermen. Additionally, it was Christ Himself who told Peter and Andrew that instead of catching fish (ichthus) He would train them to "catch" men. (an allusion to the preaching of the gospel and the conversions it would bring, see Matthew 4:19, 13:47 - 48, Mark 1:17)   Celtic Cross Necklace Details

Care and Cleaning While Forgiven Jewelry products are designed to last, proper care is an important part of keeping your jewelry looking it's best. Because the Celtic Cross Necklace pendant is anodized with a blue finish, it can be scratched off. When anything is anodized it is electrically charged and a color coating is permanently adhered to the metal that is charged. The Color of the pendant is a coating that will last a life time if you avoid wearing it while working with cement. Or working in the yard. Or doing gardening. We do not recommend wearing this pendant while shingling a roof or working with abrasive materials. Be sure not to wear your jewelry while cleaning or working with harsh chemicals, in pools or spas, or while playing sports. Please avoid throwing or dropping this necklace. It is not indestructible. Store your jewelry individually to keep them from scratching each other. To clean your jewelry, use a warm, soapy water soak and a soft brush. Meaning of Celtic Cross Design Celtic Crosses: Throughout Ireland & Scotland, the celts crafted these magnificent symbols in stone. Celtic Crosses pre-date Christianity. It was not untill the 4th century AD when it was introduced by the first Christian Roman Emperor Constantine, that the Celtic Cross was used to represent Christ's victory. During the great conversion of many pagans to christianity, Christian Philosophers adapted the Celtic Cross and thought the meaning of the circle to represent Christ, the center of Christianity.
