Fathers day fun

Fathers day fun and more, now that I am a dad.  I love being a dad.  How much more does our father in heaven enjoy us a children!  I have to say it wasn’t always like this.  I used to think 11 years ago that I would be a horrible dad like my own father.  But you know what.  I found out that its what in your heart that makes you a good dad.  You have to give up your self and pour your life into the children God has given you.  I get that.  My walk with the Lord started with...

The Coffee Song

Ya, know I have heard that there is an awful lot of coffee in Brazil… I have never been to Brazil, or met anyone from Brazil to tell me otherwise.  But as I make my morning brew of that dark and delicious espresso.  I sometimes hum the old classic tune from Frank Sinatra known as the “The Coffee Song: Way down among Brazilians, Coffee beans grow by the billions, So they’ve got to find those extra cups to fill  They’ve got an awful lot of coffee in Brazil…” The Coffee Song” (occasionally subtitled “They’ve Got an Awful Lot of Coffee in Brazil“) is a novelty song written...

Being Good Stewards Of What God Has Given Us

Being good stewards of our money and material possessions is something that often slips our minds.  To really sit down and contemplate this idea comes as a conviction for most of us.  2 Corinthians 9:7 says, “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” Stewardship means that as believers we are each assigned different amounts of material things to manage for God. Bear much fruit

Do I bear much fruit?  Hmm…that is a good question, one that I don’t think about very much. Mike Murdock says “The quality of your preparation determines the quality of your performance.”  I like to use this quote for everything in life, including our grapevines. The house we live in belonged to Bill’s grandparents, and it came with a row of grapevines.  These grapes came from Bill’s Great Grandparents from Hungary.  We didn’t know anything about how to care for grapes, and we still don’t.  We just know that they need cut back every spring, and covered up if frost is in the forecast. ...

Be still and know that I am God

Be still and know that I am God.It’s early April and it’s snowing…a lot.  Inches of snow on the ground, and it’s cold.  I was really ready for Springtime and eating breakfast outside on my bistro set.  I imagined watching the daffodils (narcissus) swaying gently in cool spring breezes.  My daffodils are bent over and covered in snow. Be still and know that I am God. My dog doesn’t want to go outside in the snow, therefore my husband must go ahead and shovel. I’m sure he’d rather not locate his winter coat, and boots, and hat, and gloves.  He already moved the shovel back...
