Inspiration of a flowers We found in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that reads; "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" This necklace is a perfect reminder of how we need to grow spiritually in Christ Jesus.
In scripture plants often serve as illustrations for teaching spiritual truths. Even plants are written about or named all over the Bible. What do we need for basic survival? We need water, sun and food. Plants need that also. Just like plants we need a Master over our life. God is our Master who provides all we need and shows us the way to have eternal life. Spiritually we are like the flowers. In the book of Hosea, it compares plant growth to spiritual growth. in Hosea 14:5-7, we read:
I will be like the dew to Israel;
he will blossom like a lily.
Like a cedar of Lebanon
he will send down his roots;
6 his young shoots will grow.
His splendor will be like an olive tree,
his fragrance like a cedar of Lebanon.
7 People will dwell again in his shade;
they will flourish like the grain,
they will blossom like the vine—
Israel’s fame will be like the wine of Lebanon.
Here, he compares the walking in obedience to the Lord to:
- the glory of a lily
- the fragrance of the cedars of Lebanon
- the beauty of an olive tree
- the fruit-bearing of a grape vine.
And, Moses mentions plants and their byproducts to describe the abundance that they would find in the promised land.
Deuteronomy 8:7-8
For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land—a land with brooks, streams, and deep springs gushing out into the valleys and hills;8 a land with wheat and barley, vines and fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil and honey;
