Sometimes all you can do is pray. We are so heartbroken and sad to hear of the death of TobyMac’s son Truett. We prayed for him, his family, and his friends. We didn’t know what else to do, but sometimes all you can do is pray.
We are HUGE TobyMac fans at Forgiven Jewelry. His music has provided us a creative and spiritual boost in our office, our home, and cruising in our cars. The times when we need a lift because our day is sluggish, we put on TobyMac. The times when we need Holy Spirit creative energy, we put on TobyMac.
We’ve seen him a few times in concert and have left in awe, inspired and refreshed. TobyMac just feels like a kindred spirit to us – like a friend.
TobyMac and his family may never know that we pray for him, but he needs our prayers.
In these times we live in, Christians get mocked during a tragedy for offering up prayers. People on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or any other social media will tell you they don’t want your prayers, that your prayers mean nothing to them. But we know differently. James 5:16 tells us that the “prayers of a righteous person is powerful and effective” . We know that the “Lord always keeps his promises: He is gracious in all He does.” (Psalm 145:13). We know that in our troubles we can cry out to the Lord - and he not only hears our prayers, but he answers them. (Psalm 120:1). They can discount our prayers all they want, because we know that sometimes all you can do is pray, and we believe our prayers are powerful and effective
In the New Testament books of Ephesians, Philippians, 1&2 Thessalonians, etc. Paul starts out by telling the people that he is always praying for them. Over and over he prays and encourages them. That is the first thing that he wants them to know - is how much he cares for them, and how much he prays for them. If possible, we should tell people that we are praying for them, because it may be the only encouragement and comfort that they will receive.
Sometimes, all you can do is pray for people, especially if you aren’t close enough to take them a batch of fresh baked chocolate cookies . Sometimes, all you can do is pray because you don’t know TobyMac personally, and can’t call or text him or send him a card, but you know he needs your prayers. Sometimes, all you can do is pray because there is nothing else that can do. Your prayers do matter and God hears them. So don’t ever think that your prayers don’t matter or aren’t important. Pray for your friends, your family, and anyone else that you can think of because because sometimes all you can do is pray…
