Autumn: Witness God’s Glory

There are certain times of the year that bring inspiration and creativity to us and we’re in the midst of one of those times right now. Autumn.

Autumn is an extraordinary part of each year. The sights and smells of this beautiful season are as inspiring as they are something to behold.

We love to witness the phenomenon of the leaves changing — watching the grandeur of it all as the warmth of summer transitions to the tranquility of winter.

For just a few weeks each year, various shades of red, yellow, orange, and brown form a canvas upon which our God has created a masterpiece.

As artists, it's an incredible time of the year for us, and we continually thank Jesus for his awesome work.

“Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made.” (John 1:3)

Your Photosynthesis

Before a leaf changes from green to red or orange or yellow, its tree uses sunlight to convert water and carbon dioxide into sugar. It’s called photosynthesis and it keeps the leaves green during the summer months.

When you praise Jesus, it’s like photosynthesis. When you marvel at God’s incredible creation, you’re storing up His glory and grace for times when you need it the most. You can stop, take a moment to “be still,” and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10).

Many scriptures talk about “storing up” good things in our hearts.

Matthew 6:20 says: “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.”

And in Luke 6:45, it is written: “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.”

The Miracle of God’s Creation

As Christians, this time of year really speaks to us about the glory of God and the miracle of His creation. It brings to mind Romans 1 and Psalm 14.

Romans 1:18: “The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities — his eternal power and divine nature — have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”

Psalm 14: “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’”

We are dumbfounded that some people can go through their lives without taking the time to ponder the miracle that is the Autumn season, seeing God and His divine nature at work with their own eyes, but refusing to believe.

Be Still and Know That He is God

Step out into this inspiring season today. Listen for the crunch of leaves under your feet, feel the wind in the air, and enjoy the beauty of the brightly colored trees all around you.

Take the time to witness it all and “be still.”

This Autumn season is a time to rejoice in Jesus: “For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible…” (Colossians 1:16-17)

Let’s store up all this glorious color and wonder in our hearts for a time when we need to be refreshed and encouraged.

We encourage you to grab your camera or smartphone and take a photo of a leaf, or some colorful autumn landscapes — then share it with us via social media and tag us, using the hashtag:
