Back to School: 4 Ways to Share and Wear Your Faith

It’s inevitable. The summer’s coming to an end and you’re going back to school.

This might make you happy or maybe you’re dreading the thought of homework and assignments. But heading back to the classroom with your peers is a great opportunity to share your Christian faith — from the words you say and your actions towards others, to the clothes you wear and the Christian cross jewelry around your neck and arms.

Here are some thoughts to consider as you begin a new school year.

Actions Over Words

This one should be easy, but many times, it isn’t.

Your Christian faith means you try to live your life a certain way. You have values and principles that are Christ-centered and they are at the forefront of your very existence.

Don’t be that person who talks a good game but can’t back it up in real life. Rather than saying you believe in this value or that principle, show it by how you live your life from day to day.

It’s OK to discuss your beliefs. In fact, it’s encouraged (Mark 16:15-16). But spend more time showing what you stand for rather than just talking about it.

Be a Friend in Need and Deed

Try to put others before yourself.

There are so many different ways to be a great friend to everyone in your school. In doing so, you are showing the love of Christ to others and others will notice, by your actions, that you really care.

Listen to your friends and ask them questions about their lives — what they like to do, and what their hopes and dreams are.

Is there someone who is kind of a loner or doesn’t seem to fit in with the rest of the class? Befriend them and help them to feel at home.

Greet people with a genuine smile, be kind and respectful to your teachers, and treat everyone the way you would want to be treated.

What Are You Listening To?

When you’re wearing your headphones or EarPods, have you ever had someone ask what you were listening to?

Download some of the great Christian music out there (there’s a great band or artist for any style of music you like) and when someone asks you what you’re playing, you can share their musical message. Perhaps they will even want to listen, too.

Some of our favorites are Capital Kings, Toby Mac, Mercy Me, and Hillsong United, to name just a few.

Wear Your Faith

How do you wear your faith? It can be as simple as the shirt, hat, or jewelry you’ve got on.

For example, if you’re wearing a cool-looking cap or t-shirt with a bold message sprawled across the front of it, you might get questions like: “What does that mean?”

Go ahead and tell them.

How about your Christian cross jewelry? The necklace or bracelet you’re wearing says a lot about you. If you’re wearing an awesome-looking cross necklace or bracelet, people will be drawn to it with questions like, “Where did you get that?” and “I like that, what is it all about?”

It opens the door for you to talk about your faith.

We offer an entire line of Christian cross jewelry: from necklaces and rings to bracelets, watches, and much more, even awesome one-of-a-kind items, so you can not only wear a great-looking piece of jewelry, you can wear your faith and then tell others about it, too.

Back to School

Sharing your faith at school is easy when you allow yourself to simply be you. Ask God to guide your actions and words and watch as He brings people into your life so you can be a witness to His love for all of us.
